GOETTFERT offers a modular platform for the advanced characterization of polymers. A capillary rheometer is the basic device and various additional add-ons can be added modular. In addition to determining the viscosity of plastic melts, it is possible to carry out an advanced material-specific characterization of the polymer materials. The GOETTFERT capillary rheometer can carry out additional functionalities like Contifeed, Thermal Conductivity, pvT (isothermal and isobaric), Counter Pressure Champer, Die Swell, Elongation (Rheotens, Haul-Off) as well as determination of the Shark-Skin effect.

With various add-ons to the capillary rheometer, GOETTFERT offers a modular platform for advanced material characterization.

 

Shark-Skin
  • Measuring cell for detection of the Shark-Skin effect
  • Consisting of slit die, 3 new designed and higher frequented sensors (sample rate up to 20 kHz),as well as Software package
  • Determination of the frequency spectrum and the statistical evaluation of the pressure signal
  • Used for optimization in extrusion, film- and coating process
Thermal conductivity
  • Measurement of heat conductivity
  • Temperature range up to 450°C, pressure up to 1000 bar
  • Developed according to ASTM D5930
  • Test probe with integrated heater element and temperature sensor
  • No mechanical changeover required
  • Process simulation and optimization of injection molding cycle times

Contifeed

The Contifeed is a mini-extruder, which feeds the test channel of the capillary rheometer directly with the melt or the testable material and thus represents a fully automatic melt feeding unit. This add-on is particularly suitable for thermally less resistant material, since its residence time is very low due to the automatic feeding of the material.

The advantages of Contifeed:

  • Bubblefree filling of the test channel
  • Automatic loading of very bulky samples possible
  • Approximately 50% time savings in the measurement process through more effective heating
  • Shorter heatup time for shorter material residence time under the influence of temperature
  • Recognition of processrelevant rheological data for injection molding
  • By preplasticizing also powder materials can be measured (for example PVC dry blends)
PVT (Isothermal / isobaric)
