MES Integration of Melt Flow Indexer

Bi-directional data transfer between material testing instruments and upper-level systems such as MES (Manufacturing Execution System) or LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) represents a significant facet of networked communication 4.0.

GÖTTFERT melt flow index tester are used in plastics testing laboratories of plastics manufacturers and research institutes as well as in quality inspection of incoming goods at plastics processors.

MVR (Melt Volume Rate) and MFR (Melt Flow Rate) measurements are used to test the flowability and processability of plastics. The quality test instruments can be used as stand-alone device or in combination with the miCONNECT test software. GÖTTFERT relies on the industry 4.0 standard OPC/UA, which enables bi-directional data integration to the above-mentioned systems.

A proof-of-concept in cooperation with SYNCOS GmbH was successfully completed at the "K" in Düsseldorf.
Using the example of the mi40 melt flow index tester, the required test parameters are first transferred from the CAQ module of the SYNCOS MES to the device. The test process is started with these and the measurement results are written back to the SYNCOS test module where they are statistically evaluated and visualized (control charts, histograms, etc.).

GÖTTFERT will continue to use OPC-UA as interface for further device types and offer integrated solution packages with SYNCOS.
