The melt flow tester mi40 can perform automated mulit-weight measurements as defined in ASTM D1238 Procedure D as standard. The flow rate ratio (FRR) is calculated from the results of the melt index measurement with different test weights. This ratio is a measure of molecular weight distribution and thus also of the shear-thinning behavior of the polymer relevant to processing.
