Thermal Conductivity

The measurement of the thermal conductivity is carried out by means of a probe, which can be integrated into single-barrel or multi-barrel capillary rheometers from GÖTTFERT according to ASTM5930.

The diagram shows the temperature increase over time. Depending on the thermal conductivity of the sample, the curve increases steeper or flatter. Based on this, the thermal conductivity is calculated.

Data of thermal conductivity measurements is used in particular for the optimization of injection moulding processes.

Data which is collected by this measurement method are used to optimize the cycle times or to avoid overheating. Using the data of thermal conductivity can also reduce scrap rates.
